The BTSA is delighted to be able to offer nurseries/preschools/Foundation stage the opportunity to attend an ONLINE workshop delivered by our licensed tutor to support early years practitioners to provide targeted Early Talk Boost intervention.
Talk Boost programmes are targeted interventions that narrow the gap between pupils with delayed language and their peers. Early Talk Boost is aimed at the 3-4 year age range, Talk Boost KS1 aimed at the 4-7 year age range and Talk Boost KS2 aimed at the 7-10 year age range. Talk Boost helps children with delayed language development who would not usually qualify for specialist help but are not thriving at school because of a speech and language need.
Early Talk Boost - Impact
Evaluation has shown that after Early Talk Boost, children make statistically significant progress in their early language. On average, children made 6 months progress after a nine-week intervention helping them to catch up with other children their age (twice the amount of progress of children not having the intervention).
Early Talk Boost training is aimed at early years practitioners working with groups of 3-4 year olds in early years settings or Foundation stage.
Early Talk Boost - Training
This training will give participants the skills and knowledge to:
- understand the rationale behind Early Talk Boost
- identify appropriate children
- provide a structured programme that supports children's progress with SLCN
- support attention and listening
- measure their progress
