Best Practice Network Early Career Framework

What is the Early Career Development Programme?

From September 2021, the government funded an entitlement for all early career teachers in England to access high-quality professional development at the start of their career with a view to greater teacher support and retention.

New teachers now receive development support and training over 2 years instead of one, all underpinned by the DfE’s Early Career Framework reforms. The Early Career Framework (ECF) reforms aim to lay a strong foundation for every new teacher through evidence-based professional development and support that will ensure they feel confident, in control and excited about their new teaching career. Supported by their delivery partners, Best Practice Network are now delivering the programme nationwide.
