The BTSA is proud to be working with Outstanding Leaders Partnership to deliver the National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) to colleagues across Essex.
The frameworks for the NPQs have been updated and refreshed for Autumn 2021 and draw from the very latest evidence and research into pedagogy, behaviour, curriculum and more. From September 2021, the reformed NPQs will offer teachers and leaders clearer development opportunities and career progression. These qualifications will build on key areas of the Early Career Framework (ECF), allowing for further specialisation and development of expertise and help prepare teachers and leaders for the next step in their careers. To best address the broad range of responsibilities of current and aspiring middle leaders, three new specialist NPQs have been introduced which support alternate career development.
The reformed qualifications aim to:
- help teachers hone and develop the skills they already have, helping them to become more effective leaders inside and outside the classroom and improving overall teaching quality
- retain high-calibre teachers by offering clearer development opportunities and career progression
The 6 NPQs currently available are:
- NPQ for Leading Teaching (NPQLT)
- NPQ for Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQLBC)
- NPQ for Leading Teacher Development (NPQLTD)
- NPQ for Senior Leadership (NPQSL)
- NPQ for Headship (NPQH)
- NPQ for Executive Leadership (NPQEL)
