Join our Primary Talk training programme - whole school training aimed at supporting communication development - start Monday 22nd May - 2 online sessions via Zoom
The BTSA is delighted to be able to offer a whole school training programme for primary schools aimed at supporting communication development for all primary pupils.
Training will be delivered through two ONLINE twilight sessions by our licensed tutor and is aimed at all primary staff, including teachers, LSAs and support practitioners to improve knowledge and support understanding of speech, language and communication for all children aged 5-11.
Research by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) suggests that lockdown and other measures taken to combat the pandemic have deprived young children of social contact and experiences essential to increasing vocabulary.
Primary schools surveyed reported that:
- 76% of pupils starting school need more support with communication than in previous years
- 96% of schools were concerned about pupil's speech and language development
Primary Talk Training Programme
Hosted by our accredited facilitator, this programme is aimed at improving the skills and confidence of staff to support pupil's communication skills by giving them the knowledge to establish practical strategies and approaches to maximise and develop every child's language and communication skills.
The training sessions will support schools to:
- Build understanding of children's typical speech, language and communication development
- Identify children with SLCN needs
- Utilise strategies and approaches to develop communication skills across the curriculum
- Develop the foundation skills for literacy
- Further develop social aspects of learning and work collaboratively with parents and professionals to support speech and language
Online sessions take place via Zoom (3.45pm-5.00pm):
Monday 22nd May 2023
Monday 5th June 2023
