The DfE has announced that the ECF programme will be known as the Early Career Teacher Entitlement from September 2025.

Teach First ECTE provision will be open to all new Y1 ECTs and ECMs registering with BTSA for September 2025. Our current ECTs/ECMs moving into Year 2 will be able to complete their ECTE programme through our previous provider.

All mentors who have completed training with any ECTE lead provider previously will be classed as 'trained mentors', and do not need to complete mentor training again. Teach First will provide them with resources so that they can effectively support ECTs through their programme, including a trained mentor handbook, and they do not have to attend seminars or complete self-study again (unless they wish to do so).

BTSA is delighted to announce our new partnership with ECTE provider Teach First to deliver local ECT and ECM provision starting September 2025!

BTSA provides both a networking and training opportunity for Early Career Teachers in local schools in South Essex and Southend-on-Sea.

Following a review of providers, BTSA selected Teach First as they offer schools a flexible and comprehensive ECTE programme, which aligns well with our own ITT programme, to engage and develop ECTs. BTSA were especially impressed with the ‘Core’ and ‘Stretch’ elements of their programme, offering ECTs the option of pursuing the core module or a more developed stretch module following an evaluation of the training topic. Teach First also provide more subject specific and phase focused training (including Early Years) and additional optional SEND and Leadership training to support professional development and career progression.
