BTSA Reading:
Universal Strategies for Progress

Our Reading: Universal Strategies for Progress training is designed to support all secondary staff (teaching, support and pastoral) to promote, support and accelerate learning progress through reading.

SUITABLE FOR SECONDARY PHASE ONLY

The training offers contextual knowledge on the challenges of reading for young people and why reading, as a critical foundation skill, needs to be at the forefront of our planning, support and classroom implementation.

The course will provide key takeaways in the form of classroom and support strategies to build reading engagement and progress.

This session will also touch upon the essential and complex role vocabulary plays in knowledge development and students’ self-efficacy across their curriculum.

The vocabulary and reading work is supported by our ‘Time to Talk: Oracy in the classroom’ session and it is advised that participants attend both sessions to provide further tools with which to improve foundational literacy skills for all pupils.

Both READING: UNIVERSAL STRATEGIES FOR PROGRESS and TIME TO TALK: ORACY IN THE CLASSROOM can be booked together at a discounted cost.
