The BTSA is delighted to be able to offer primary schools the opportunity to attend an ONLINE workshop delivered by our licensed tutor to support KS2 practitioners to provide targeted speech and language intervention.

Talk Boost programmes are targeted and evidence-based interventions that narrow the gap between pupils with delayed language and their peers. Early Talk Boost is aimed at the 3-4 year age range, Talk Boost KS1 aimed at the 4-7 year age range and Talk Boost KS2 aimed at the 7-10 year age range. Talk Boost helps children with delayed language development who would not usually qualify for specialist help but are not thriving at school because of a speech and language need. Talk Boost can also support different groups of children, such as those with English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Talk Boost KS2 - Impact

Delayed language can significantly impact on children's attainment; many children have the potential to catch up but only if they receive timely intervention. Evaluation of Talk Boost KS2 showed that after 8 weeks of running the intervention children made significant progress in language and communication with 67% catching up with their peers in understanding language. Additionally, children joined in more, taking part in more classroom discussions and listening more carefully. When surveyed, 85% of parents reported their children's language skills had improved.

Talk Boost KS2 training is aimed at teachers/LSAs working with children aged 7-10 years old in Years 3, 4 and 5.

Talk Boost KS2 - Training
